In the Long Slumber (1995-2009)
From the mid-1990s documentary data for climate reconstruction were less in demand. The ESF project was terminated, the enthusiasm petered out. Euro-Climhist was sparsely continued on remaining credits and small own resources, in particular for integrating medieval and early modern evidence for the Middle Ages collected by Werner and Gabriela Schwarz-Zanetti for their PhD thesis. At least, the research network established in the framework of the ESF project persisted. It allowed publishing a special issue about the European climate of the sixteenth century and its significance for cultural and economic development (Pfister, Brázdil, Glaser 1999). Urs Dietrich-Felber (2008) and Max Burri redesigned Euro-Climhist as a relational Microsoft Access database after the turn of the millennium.
