Terms of Use

In general, data out of Euro-Climhist are freely available.

 

User Categories

Standard users receive a starting credit of 15‘000 records for testing. Afterwards access is given for up to 3‘500 records per week. The results appear without a detailed reference and without the full text of the source.

Scientific users have access to the database without restrictions and are enabled to view also the detailed references and the full text of the source.

Scientific users are researchers at universities and colleges of applied sciences (academic staff and students), scientific employees of archives, museums and non-commercial research institutes, teachers and pupils involved in research projects at school, and cooperation partners of Euro-Climhist. When registering as a scientific user, a standard user account will be provided automatically, whereas the enrolment as a scientific user will be checked ad approved personally by the Euro-Climhist staff. Please allow us a few working days for this process.

 

Use of Data

Data taken from Euro-Climhist may be used only for your personal purposes in research and teaching that is for presentations, scholarly publications, didactic materials, and with a full reference of the source (see below, citing data from Euro-Climhist in publications). However, they must not be used for commercial services without explicit permission from Euro-Climhist, they must not be given to third parties, and they must not be inserted into other databases or be published on the internet, neither partly nor as a whole. It is strictly forbidden to share the personal username and password with other persons.

Commercial users may contact Euro-Climhist to set up a bilateral written agreement with individual terms of use. This agreement will include regulations about a reasonable charge if there will be additional effort related to the processing of data.

 

Citing Data from Euro-Climhist in Publications

Data in publications containing data from Euro-Climhist need to be quoted according to the citation style of the user’s discipline:

For publications in the humanities:
